What does "403" mean in the AI Search Console?

Answer

403 is an HTTP response code issued by the server hosting your website.

It indicates that there may be an active block (a block from the server and not in robots.txt) of the indicated bot.

We test if the AI indexing bots can interact with your website by modifying the user agent that identifies them, but we can't actually make requests from the IP addresses of the bot services themselves.

For this reason, we recommend verifying with your IT or web host to ensure the service and bot can actually access it.
